Change Agents for School Education and Research (CASER) in collaboration with Sol’s Arc and Atma organised a day-long roundtable on 27 Nov, 2014 on ‘Transforming Inclusive Education through Innovations: dreams, designs and solutions for education of children with special needs’. The roundtable saw participation from several experts, including special educators and doctors, the government and other stakeholders – mother of an autistic child, an MBA student who has overcome several barriers to education despite being deaf.
The discussion focused on three key areas of Disability Certification and Education Concessions, Pedagogies for Special children and governance/ policy issues in Inclusive Education. Several important points and recommendations were made. The Government of Maharashtra has called for a focus group discussion on plans for 2015 on 5th December at 11 am at Observer Research Foundation Mumbai office.
