Sanskrit as a language needs to be seen as an integral part of our culture and all efforts should be made to preserve and revive the language. Inability of studying the original treatise in Sanskrit will lead to loss of cultural heritage and diminished understanding. Since 95% of Sanskrit literature is non-spiritual in content and discusses music, dance, mathematics, astronomy, etc. in great depth, it has in fact inspired many renowned institutions of management, engineering, science, architecture and others across India. On the other side of the classroom
It is well known that “People don’t leave companies they leave bad bosses” – the same analogy is true for our schools. ‘Students don’t dislike subjects but incompetent teachers.’… It is about time all the stakeholders -the education system, parents, students and teachers recognise this and pave the way to give society thought leaders, entrepreneurs, innovators, risk-takers, artists, sportsmen and the like. Eyes and Healthy Food
Shaheeda Kirtane Your mom and grandmom have probably told you that eating carrots and other orange-colored fruits and vegetables is good for your eyes and protects your vision. TEACHING TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE
All the years of teaching have been joyful and fruitful for me. The feeling of fulfillment, however, came to me after several years of teaching…. Yes, as teachers we must teach to make a difference in the lives of the students. We all don’t know or notice but our certain expectations affect kids and the negative impact of certain expectations can be seen when we come across such innocent kids. I see this every time I conduct the first parent orientation lecture for the nursery class. I ask the parents, “How many parents want their child to rank first in the class?” And every time, all the parents raise their hands. What a burdened expectation on a three year old this is! When will parents understand that the primary purpose of education is to gain knowledge, learn to learn, and not to score marks? Continue reading
WHY AM I A TEACHER?
Sangeeta Sohni I never knew when the seed of being a teacher was induced in me. It was a natural progression in my life… maybe coming from a family of teachers from both the sides, it was in my family genes or I was inspired by some of the best teachers in my life. I … Continue reading
A Teacher’s role in changing times: Lead Kindly Light!
What should I do? What should I do?’~ The question plagues me,
Which seeds to plant for learners to grow into magnificent tree?
I learn from experience – to adapt to changing times,
Be a facilitator of knowledge is the current rhyme. Continue reading
